Planning application submitted for 55 Holloway Head
Beyond Property Group is pleased to confirm that a full planning application has been submitted for the comprehensive redevelopment of 55 Holloway Head, Birmingham, a prominent city-centre site.
The proposals seek consent for a residential-led mixed-use scheme comprising the sensitive conversion and extension of the existing former Lee Bank Business Centre, alongside the redevelopment of the adjacent land along Chapman’s Passage. The scheme has been carefully designed following extensive pre-application engagement with Birmingham City Council
A Transformational City Centre Scheme
The proposed development includes:
The conversion and extension of the existing building to create 211 apartments
The delivery of 9 new townhouses and 4 additional apartments along Chapman’s Passage
Four ground-floor commercial units to activate key street frontages
New landscaped courtyards, rooftop amenity space and improved public realm
Secure cycle parking and sustainable transport measures
The scheme represents a significant opportunity to regenerate an underutilised brownfield site and bring it back into active use, responding positively to Birmingham’s ongoing housing needs and city-centre growth ambitions
Design-Led and Context Responsive
The proposals have been shaped by the site’s unique topography and surrounding urban context. The architectural approach retains and reinterprets the existing building’s character while introducing high-quality contemporary additions. Brick-led façades, active street frontages and clearly defined entrances aim to enhance the townscape along Holloway Head, Blucher Street and Chapman’s Passage
The layout prioritises pedestrian movement, sustainable travel and high-quality living environments, with generous cycle provision, secure access arrangements and well-designed amenity spaces.
Looking Ahead
The planning submission marks a key step forward in Beyond Property Group’s commitment to delivering design-led, sustainable regeneration in Birmingham’s city centre. The application is now under consideration by Birmingham City Council.
Further updates will be shared as the application progresses.
